Apple has tried to make the new software much more useful without you having to use your smartphone much more often. The true change we could see was was in the Lock Screen of iOS 16. Now you can access widgets in your Lock Screen. Lock Screen Widgets are really helpful as now you can see your calendar, without unlocking your phone or swiping right. The iPhone was never good at quick interactions with the app. But this time you can access any app widgets on Lock Screen by turning on the Always-on display option. A lot of information can be displayed on the Lock-screen , But there are still a lot of changes to make.
The new Notch by Apple can display information , you can tap it to open the app or long press it to expand the widget. But there are very few first party apps that are using this feature . Clock by Apple is the earliest app which is using this feature .
In iOS 16 , Lock Screens are also a way to change focus modes . You can set any wallpaper for particular days. Which can be paired with a Focus mode that will turn off email and Slack Notifications. This can be a bit of a hassle, as it takes a lot of work . For eg, pick backgrounds, add lock Screen widgets , choose font colours for the clock .
Let’s not deny the fact that the features that apple is offering now in iOS16, were offered in Android 5-6 years ago . Besides numerous features that apple has offered in iOS 16 , only a handful of features are making your experience with the iPhone better. Haptic feedback is one of the features that you can get used to and it also enhances your typing experience. And one feature is that you can mark conversations unread in Messages. And you can also edit messages and unsend them. But this only works when the sender and receiver both use iMessage.
It totally depends on third-party developers whether iOS16 will be a success or just another iOS update.
